MEMBER BIO:

Hello 4X Family.  This is Victor coming to you from Colorful Colorado.

A little about me…. I would classify myself as an extroverted introvert.  A bit of a paradox if you will. I am not really a “home-body”, for me the outdoors and adventure are always calling.  I am a fan of all kinds of music (yes Scott, even country).  However, my Dad was the biggest Beatle fan I know, so they are easily my favorite. I am the oldest of 7, so other than weekend trips to Walmart my parents rarely had the energy to take their church of kids out on adventures.  I guess you can say that once I reached adulthood, I’ve been trying to make up for lost time.

I am a dad to (2) amazing boys, ages 21 & 15!  I’m originally a San Diego native born and raised.  However, when my oldest was getting ready to start school, I soon realized that the housing prices for southern California were a bit too rich.  We soon found ourselves in the suburbs of Phoenix.  It was really my time in AZ that I really found out who I was (and who I wanted to become) as a person.  My 1st trip to Flagstaff was my first real exposure to the fresh mountain air, pine trees, and snow capped peaks.  Who knew that John Muir’s paradise would appeal to me more than the Hollywood Baywatch that I grew up with LOL.   All the “city” life of California has a way of magnifying the social “blueprint” of what society deems to be successful and the American Dream.  It wasn’t until I was able to get into the mountains and experience nature’s “Divine Music” that I was able to find peace within myself.

I lived in Arizona for almost 12 years.  Along with raising my boys and coaching little league, we were out exploring all parts of AZ from the red rocks of Sedona to the dirt streets of Tombstone. It was a business trip for my work that actually first brought me to Denver.  At the time, my girlfriend and I were really into crossfit, and all the outdoor adventures of Colorado appealed to us greatly.  We came out to visit during each season to experience white water rafting, snowboarding, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities.  I soon realized that the Rocky Mountains were really where we wanted to be. If you ask me to describe it, living in Colorado is like living in a Mountain Dew commercial with all the X-games sports.

As with my growing need to be in nature, in the mountains, and amongst God’s greatest creations, this growing term of “overlanding” began gaining popularity in America.  I happened to come across this channel on Youtube with a guy and an awesome lifted Subaru. I love watching videos of overland builds and different ways that people kit out their rides.  But I soon realized that there was something special about Scott and his channel. Could it be?……a spiritually-minded person who emphasized harmony with nature. Beauty and peace with solitude.  The beautiful music of wind in the trees, the miracle of animals and nature. For me, when Scott said that being in nature was his “church”, I knew that I wanted to be a part of his team. I am very excited to see where 4X can go, grow, and all the good things that a like-minded adventure based community can do!

Currently, you can find me and my girlfriend out nearly every weekend on adventures all around Colorado. I have a Land Rover LR3 and she has a Jeep Wrangler Willys edition. So no desrimination here.  Heck, my own two feet have taken me to some beautiful backpacking trips when I only had a commuter car.  Both of my boys still live in AZ, but come for adventures about every other month. No weekend Walmart trips for them LOL.  I greatly anticipate the 4X community meeting up for events and gatherings so I can meet all of you in person.
