MEMBER BIO:

My name is Ben Jacques. I am 49 years old with an amazing wife, 2 girls and 1 boy. I was born and raised in Alpine California located 45 minutes east of San Diego. I help run and facilitate an Alzheimer’s residential care facility located in Alpine, CA.  I consider myself a very blessed man.

I love the outdoors, historic artifact hunting, metal detecting, gold mining backpacking and bushcraft/survival skills. I have been into off-roading since high school long before overlanding was a well known term here in the USA.

I have always had Jeep Wranglers and other 4-wheel-drive vehicles until my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited decided to procure engine problems with under 50k miles on it. I was informed by my local Jeep dealer & Chrysler that the issue was not covered under my extended warranty. Needless to say, I will never own another Jeep!

In September of 2022 after finding Scott’s videos on his Subaru and his build, I purchased my Subaru Forester Wilderness.  I am very happy with my Subaru. Currently my Subaru is waiting for its Ironman ATS lift to be installed with new offroad tires. I’m waiting for the factory tires to go. I only have 7,000 miles on the vehicle.

Most of the overlanding equipment and gear I use was removed from my Jeep and is now being used on my Forester. I just installed a Front Runner Slim Line roof rack platform on it. Within the next 6 months of my Subaru build, I will be completing my bucket list and will start checking things off.
