For his birthday I bought my brother a Bronco II. We are a blue oval family and he has always wanted a bronco. Due to the release of the new bronco the full size quickly rose above my budget but the plucky Bronco II based on the ranger chassis was still affordable. I found a gem! She is straight as an arrow with no rust (thanks to the AZ climate) and the interior is like new. She runs and drives but i have big plans to turn that little SUV into a perfect overland vehicle. Its going to be an extensive project but its got me so excited! Now for the funding..... 🤔

Cool. My neighbor growing up had a brown one. I used to ride with him in it to his Hobie Cat and go sailing with him. Have any photos to post?

Welcome aboard!

I had an '87 years ago..    the 2.9 is a totally decent engine (hopefully yours has that and not the 2.3 diesel..) and for its era can be reasonably smooth, efficient and gutsy.  Reliable too if cared for.   Part of the decent power is relative just because of how light the vehicle is.

If you've got the automatic trans A4LD it's a pretty light duty transmission so maintenance is key - and external cooling if yours only has the wet/wet one.   The larger "plates" style cooler from 89+ Rangers is an easy bolt-in,  keep the wet one inline.

@shovel it does have the 2.9 and a 5spd manual. Runs like a champ. We want to do a solid front axle swap and an 8.8 in the rear just to upgrade the suspension. The 2.9 has the typical head leak and want to overheat so the plan is to swap for a new motor. Something a little more modern. The 2.9 has served us well but with 200k+ miles she is tired.
