@kurt-warren, I too am a Subie owner with a 2019 Crosstrek Premium. I use my Subie to car camp and have her outfitted with a Roofnest Sparrow EYE RTT and an awning. I've yet to add a lift or larger tires, as the stock configuration has worked well for me so far, but depending on the adventures I partake in with 4XPEDITION, I may consider making those mods at some point. I'm curious as to what you've done with your vehicle.

That tent seems to fit on that little Crosstrek pretty well. And, low profile. You mount that right to the factory crossbars? White on white looks good, too. My son has a white Outback with a white Airtop RTT on it. He is a member on here too so I am sure he will share it soon.
I originally installed the RTT on the factory bars, which was a nightmare due to the minimal clearance. I ended up upgrading the bars to the Malone 50" system recommended by Roofnest that provides just the right amount of clearance to easily install or remove the tent as needed. The RTT rides really well; however, it does overhang a bit further than I would like to accommodate opening the back hatch, but it's not so much that it obstructs my view. I just got back from an overnight trip to Patagonia Lake and love my Roofnest.

Looking forward to seeing your son's rig.
I've not heard of the Malone 50. The other thing you always have to consider is if the hatch in the back opens without hitting the glass to the tent. Patagonia area is really nice. However, the only time I ever camped at Patagonia Lake it was super crowded and there was a lot of loud music. Guess it depends on the time of year.

Malone sells rack accessory equipment for SUP/kayakers (among others), but they also sell different roof rack options that are much more affordable than other roof rack systems that I will not name. 🙂 Roofnest has partnered with them and offer direct sales of the Malone 50" and 58" roof rack systems through their website.
Regarding Patagonia Lake, yeah, it can be a busy place during the warmer months, and I avoid it at that time for that reason. I won't go unless I can get an East campsite, which tends to be quieter any time of the year. Generators are not allowed at the lake, which helps, and they do observe a "quiet time".
