I am thinking of custom fabricating my own roof rack for the Outback. The Prinsu rack is a total pain to install. The Front Runner Rack in my opinion isn't ideal for loading a rooftop tent. I think I can do better. Reached out to my buddy Dan Cronin from Northwest Overland who has his own fabrication shop in his garage. I may fly up there this spring and see what we can create together. He said he would be interested in partnering on it. @pete-racz @luke-moussa @debaru Thoughts?

I think there is a market for it if it.  You could incorporate some type of t-channel system for accessories but honestly a purpose built rack for just a roof nest would be just as in demand.  Looks like the Prinsu is 48lbs and Frontrunner is 51lbs, so if you go lighter than that it would be a huge draw in my book.

@luke-moussa Ya. I can't really talk about the details yet, but I think there can be a new rack that does what others don't!

@4x_admin I would be totally interested in that.  I really did not want to rip apart the inside of my car to install a roof rack.  Something less invasive would be outstanding.  A rack with purposeful options would be great too.  I might be into a rooftop tent in the future, but would also like the ability to load gear/tire/etc. to free up the inside in case I just want to car camp.  Super interesting idea!

If I didn’t have a RTT, which is pretty much a permanent part of my car, I would be interested.
