For those in the mood to explore Arizona, this makes a pretty nice weekend. Just enough room for one tent and just enough hike for somebody who's not already an experienced backpacker.
Access via @33.3975691,-111.3479324,20z?hl=en" target="true">Peralta Trailhead , follow signs to Fremont Saddle and turn Right (East) onto the bluff. Route finding is not difficult. Approx. 5 miles round trip and you can live out your hipster dream of camping in a place REI chose as their showcase mural.
I have made a short video of this viewable on youtube here- be cautioned that I am an unrestrained potty mouth and that is apparent throughout the video.
I've done that trip a few times. Further out than they show there, but one of my favorite camp spots is halfway up the base of Weaver's Needle. It is really a great trip in March as there is generally running water in the streams to pump. Here are a few shots of the spot I like to camp up the slope of Weavers. The view and the sunset is stunning from there.
I count myself very fortunate to have the Superstition Mountains so close to home. On my first trip to Arizona waaaaay back in 1980, I spent an entire day exploring those mountains on horseback with a local guide. If you’ve never seen this area in person, you definitely need to add it to your bucket list.

1980! Wow. I hiked there first in 1989 and I thought that was long ago.

Yeah, I’m old. 🥴
@debaru You are seasoned, not old! My stepdad is 93 and this past year he built a two-car garage! He's my inspiration for a life lived long and well. Cheers! Adventure on!
