Had a great hike last weekend around Picket Post Mountain in Superior, AZ.  Thought I'd throw out some pics for you all.  Meant to post earlier but the week got away from me!

Hiked the circumference of the mountain (8.6 miles).  This is one of my favorite hikes.  It's a popular hike but the desert scenery and riparian areas are really cool.  There's also a trail up to the top of the mountain.

If you live in AZ and haven't tried this hike, give it a go!  Again, it's pretty active out there, lots of people.  I'd say it is less crowded than the Superstitions though.

Also found a quiet place to have some lunch after the hike!

***This might not be the right section for this post but didn't see a "Hiking" area specifically...

Regards,

Pete (Chandler, AZ)

I have never done that hike... around or to the top but it has been on my list for years! My brother Dan and brother-in-law Eric have been bagging segments of the Arizona Trail and did that segment a few months ago. I hear that the wild flowers around that base are spectacular. Thanks for sharing the photos, Pete!

You bet!  Heading for the Peralta Trail tomorrow morning for a quick hike with my wife and daughter.  Plan on doing some recon as well around there for an overnighter camping spot like you suggested!  Got to put that Luno Life mattress to use.

Also, bought a Slumberjack SJK Roadhouse Tarp that attaches to the back of the Subaru.  Set it up in my driveway once but plan on putting it to use tomorrow.  I'll set it up, shoots some pics and post in the gear section.  It's pretty cool, easy to set up and very cost effective for those that don't want to have an awning attached to the vehicle.

@pete-racz Nice, Pete! And, by  the way, I changed this forum name to "Hiking and Backpacking" to accommodate hiking. Good call on that.
