This is a much delayed post, but a few months back I went backpacking with my brother-in-law and his friend near Mount Hood along the Salmon River Trail. The full loop is around 25.7 miles which we planned to do in 3 days, but we ended up hiking in ~11 miles and hit a lot of snow and downed trees which stopped our progress. We camped for one night, I was in a hammock with a good 15° sleeping bag, but my friends weren't so prepared. We hiked out the next day and enjoyed a good burger for dinner on the way home.

For those near the Portland area I would highly recommend this trail. There are a lot of campsites, and it's great for family.
I recently brought by wife and 2 kids, we hiked in ~2 miles to a good campsite by the river and we had a great time.

Nice! I haven't been in the Mt. Hood area for what seems like forever. Back in the late 80's/early 90's I was employed by a company originally based out of Beaverton, and made many trips to that part of Oregon. Mt. Hood is truly magical! Now that I'm retired, I'm hoping to get back up that way.

That looks fantastic. The only time I've been around that area is a summer stay at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Hiked up a good distance on the mountain and watched summertime snowboarding jumpers.  After that stayed in Hood River. I recall in a downtown hotel that had no AC and I spent the night sitting on the window sill three stories up overlooking main street and the neon blinking lights. Too hot to sleep. There is a couloir on Mt. Hood called Leuthold Couloir. https://www.summitpost.org/leuthold-couloir/156300

Thanks for checking in, Kyle!
