Congratulations to Matthew Blair, TEAM 4X Member #5 (@matthew-blair), for winning the RockPals 200W Power Station! Good for you Matt! Learn more about this product here > https://4xpedition.com/team-4x-member-welcome/giveaways/2021-april-rockpals-power-station/
OH MY GOLLY GEE WHILLIKERS AND OTHER EXCITED EXPRESSIONS!!! I’d like to thank the Fates, the Universe, but mostly I’d like to thank Scott and all Team 4X members for being awesome. I can’t wait to put this to use!!
That thing looks cool, what are your electrical needs that you'll presumably use it for?
@shovel so Marge (my Outback) has a 12V outlet in the trunk area. I plan on getting a portable camp fridge so I can keep more meats and cheeses at a safe temperature when driving out to a camp site. Also it will help keep things much less soggy from sitting in an ice bath during the camping trip. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to have the RockPals power station plugged in and have the camp fridge plugged into it so I can charge and power simultaneously. As far as work stuff I can use it to charge the batteries for my power tools if I am at a site with no power source.
That'll be cool, report back on how well it works for the fridge!
For several trips I've bought dry ice to keep in the chest, insulated inside a small soft lunch bag to regulate the amount of coldness - no wet ice water bath that way! Doing this requires ventilation of course, would not want your car's air on recirculate with a source of constantly expanding CO2 flushing oxygen out - well I like fresh air anyway. But now that fridges are somewhat affordable that's a good option too.
@shovel I'm still trying to plan out how to do all this and be able to access my spare and the equipment I have stashed under the little cover. Ugh, so many project ideas and so little time and money with which to do them. Heck, I still need to finalize my MORFEAS system and get pics of everything all loaded out. And then I want to build a roof-mounted jerry can holder for potable and non-potable water, and gasoline. I'm thinking the smaller 2.5 gallon size cans would be best. Then I still need to mount and wire my AUXbeam light bar and make all of it easily removable because my wife doesn't want me driving around town (when I actually get to drive Marge) with my overlanding load out on the roof. She's afraid it'll attract too much attention. Like, honestly, if anything I just want to win a little bit of a lottery so I can buy myself enough time to catch my breath and get some fun work done.
@matthew-blairYou could put your spare on a roof rack. Let me know when you receive the package. I shipped it the other day from here in Angel Fire.
@4x_admin I got it yesterday? Tuesday? It arrived; I’ll leave it at that. I’m going to get some unboxing pics soon. I also posted a new topic in camping or somewhere. Sorry, the ADHD is kicking hard tonight. 😬
