Venture out. Spent the day this weekend with my so Venture out. Spent the day this weekend with my son for his birthday. He’s been itching for one of these retired hot shot trucks to build into his adventure vehicle for some time now. Hasn’t pulled the trigger but he and I checked them out. He also rented a Hellcat for the weekend. With @leuth99 Happy bday Collin!
I have to say I’m over the whole Overland thing. I have to say I’m over the whole Overland thing. I built my first overland setup in 2012 leading to a 9 month trip around the USA and Canada. Later, I helped lead the movement for Subaru conversions giving average families with average incomes and average vehicles an opportunity to venture out with something they already had in their garage. I’ve built up 3 Jeeps, owned an expedition trailer, three rooftop tents, a four season truck camper, a three season truck camper, a lifted Subaru, a Class B, and a Land Rover Discovery. Honestly, the best purchase I ever made was a tiny cabin in the woods that has more than quadrupled in value while created a nest for true love to blossom and flourish. It’s been a place where I’ve learned so much. The US overland market is so saturated. YouTube is saturated. The Expos are no longer grassroots events owned by grassroots people. I applaud those just getting going and getting out there, but, I’m over it. All any of us really desire is a flame to ignite within that stokes joy, hope, and brings a peace that nature provides. We don’t need dust and exhaust and more stuff to fulfill such fundamental life balance. All any of us need to do is walk out our back doors and keep walking until all we are surrounded with is birds chirping, a breeze blowing across our cheeks, and an auburn sun piercing into our eyes. This is probably why I’ve not created a video in 8 months thereby abandoning a YouTube following of over 25,000 subscribers and over 100,000 monthly viewers. I’ve turned off my screen and stripped away the digital noise. It’s nothing personal—it’s just personal. Love to all of you who put your personal peace first. That’s what matters. Consider my silence a gift to just go.

Venture out. We’ve tossed around a lot of ideas Venture out. We’ve tossed around a lot of ideas as to what 2024 might look like including adventures, destinations, adventure vehicles, properties, focus, wishes and desires, and so forth. It’s all still unfolding. I’m not the most patient person so it’s a bit of a challenge for me when it comes to just holding steady. I tend to see it as limbo and I’m not a fan of limbo. But I’m also a proponent of trying to stay in the moment and not rushing life. Everyday is a gift and it all goes fast enough not to help it go faster. We’ve set our lives up for options and we work to continually solidify that position so we are always free to choose without limitations. But, that can also be a challenge because the options become broad. I’ve always talked in my videos about “the right tool for the job” and that goes for just about everything in life. What’s the task? What’s the desire? What’s the need? What’s the focus? What’s the mission? And, do the tools you have available fulfill those? This is what we are assessing for the coming year. This goes for relationships, things, expenditures, and everything else in life that occupies your time and requires your attention. Think about that in your own life. People all over the world still represent and the brand continues to grow. For instance, meet Tai Kato of Nagaizumi-cho Shimotogari, Japan who recently adorned his new Subaru with 4X gear. Our YouTube Channel, though I have not posted in some time, still grows by hundreds of subscribers a month and new supporters come into the fold. I will share some new content in the coming year.
